With interesting visuals, a great cast, and a plot that definitely does what it sets out to do, "The Diary of a Teenage Girl" is solid filmmaking, but nothing more in my opinion.

There are lots of lovely touches, including animated sequences the film is based on a graphic novel and Powley is terrific - funny and wise beyond her years.
